Battle of the Allia The Battle of the Allia took place on July 18, 387 B.C. on a tributary of the Tiber River called the Allia The Romans lost this battle to the Celts because they were out-numbered by about 70,000 to 40,000

Battle of Pharsalus The Battle of Pharsalus was fought on June 6, 48 B.C. between Caesar and Pompey Caesar had half the troops Pompey did but still won the battle, only losing about 250 men.

Battle of Cannae The Battle of Cannae happened in 216 B.C. during the second Punic War. Even though the Romans had the Carthaginians outnumbered they still lost this battle, losing about 60,000 troops.

Battle of Zama The Battle of Zama took place in 202 B.C. between the Romans and the Carthaginians. It was this battle when Hannibal tried to use elephants to confuse the Romans, but it didn’t work and Carthage lost the battle and eventually the war.

Battle of Massilia In 49 B.C. Caesar, with Trebonius as his second-in-command, captured Massilia, a city in Gaul that had allied itself with Pompey .

Battle of Cynoscephalae
After the second Punic war was over the Romans didn’t have any major enemies so they invaded Greece to protect them from Macedon. The Romans and the Macedonians met at Cynoscephalae The Romans won this battle.

Battle of Actium The battle of Actium was a naval between Augustus Caesar and Marc Antony. Caesar’s ships were smaller, lighter and faster which led to him winning the battle.
