1
Deoxyribonucleic Acid
-DNA = deoxyribonucleic acid; a type of nucleic acid -the specific sequence of DNA is the genetic information (or instructions/blueprints) for that organism -this polymer is made of monomers known as nucleotides
2
Deoxyribonucleic Acid
--a nucleotide is made of three subunits: a phosphoric acid group, a five-carbon pentose sugar, and one of four nitrogen bases (adenine, thymine, guanine, or cytosine) -the sugar is a deoxyribose sugar, which means it is missing an oxygen
3
Deoxyribonucleic Acid
-DNA has a double helix structure composed of two sugar-phosphate backbones and the rungs are composed of nitrogen bases -the two sides of DNA are held together by hydrogen bonds
4
Deoxyribonucleic Acid
-adenine (A) pairs with thymine (T) -guanine (G) pairs with cytosine (C) -A and G are purines -T and C are pyrimidines -the actual areas that contain the instructions for life are known specifically as genes

Create-A-DNA-T-Shirt
Directions: Design artwork for a tee shirt representing DNA! 1. Front of Shirt: must have artwork showing DNA in whatever form you choose. 2. Back of Shirt: must have a 1 or 2 line cute or clever (but CLEAN) saying using any concept that pertains to DNA 3. 1 paragraph explaining how the artwork and saying demonstrate DNA must be written.
