What is a sentence?

3. What is a sentence? A sentence is a group of words that makes sense.
A sentence expresses a complete thought.
A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a symbol.
A sentence has at least one verb an action word.
Example:
Sam went to the store.

5. Statement (Declarative Sentence).
A statement makes a statement. It ends with a period (.).
Examples:
The boy is happy.
The people are running.

6. Question(Interrogative Sentence).
A Question asks about something. It ends with a question mark(?) .
Examples
Examples:
Who is your teacher?
Have you ever seen a flying fish?

7. Command(Imperative Sentence).
A command gives an order. It ends with a period OR an exclamation point.
Examples:
Go to your room!
Stop.

8. Exclamation(Exclamatory Sentence)
A exclamation expresses strong feelings. It ends with an exclamation point.
Examples:
Hooray!
Wow! That’s great news!
