The Crucifixion Jesus was put on trial in front of the Jewish council (Sanhedrin). They accused Jesus of blasphemy (going against the Jewish religion). So why did Jesus have to die?
Jesus suffered a human death. His suffering and death shows that: Jesus always obeyed God – so should Christians. Jesus’ atonement meant everyone has a chance at salvation. Christians can take inspiration from Jesus’ suffering.
