Read Aloud, Think Aloud The teacher models the strategies for effective reading. The student follows along on the computer while the book is read. The student is actively engaged in the learning process of becoming a better reader.

Read Aloud, Think Aloud C: Conversation level 0 (This means there should be no talking at all!) H: Help (If you need help, please raise your hand, wait silently for teacher) A: Activity (Students should be actively listening and following along while teacher is reading) M: Movement should be 0. (No movement necessary without permission) P: Participation (Students should be tracking as teacher reads) S: SUCCESS! (Do all of these things and you WILL be successful!)

Classroom Conversation
A chance for us to interact with each other about the book from the Read Aloud/ Think Aloud.

Whole Group The students are provided with instruction about the skills needed to be a better reader. For instance, we might discuss: Character Development Cause and Effect Author’s Purpose, etc.

Work Time Students will work independently to complete the Interactive Reader and Independent Reading along with any other assignments sent by the teacher to improve the student’s reading problems.

Refer to 3 of your peers, before you speak to teacher) A: Activity (Students should be completing assigned work) M: Movement should be 0. (No movement without permission) P: Participation (Students will be on computers actively typing and reading ) S: SUCCESS! (Do all of these things and you WILL be successful!)

Interactive Reader This assignment will be completed during the Work Time. It will help the teacher know what level the student is currently at. It will help determine what level the student should be in during Time to Read (Independent Reading). It is kind of like a little “quiz.”

Teacher-Led Small Group
The teacher will work with small groups of students on common problem reading areas (for instance decoding, phonics, syllabication, etc.). This occurs during the Work Time.

(No movement without permission) P: Participation (Students will be actively writing/typing and following along with activity) S: SUCCESS! (Do all of these things and you WILL be successful!)

Wrap Up We will have a short discussion about what we have learned and where we are heading. The computers will be logged off and left on the desks.
