A Quality Scouting Experience
12/6/2018 A Quality Scouting Experience SCOUTING What is the purpose of the camp card? It is an easy, effective way to help our Scouts earn their own way through the Scouting program. (Advance slide) It has been said that Scouting (Advance Slide) is ¾ “outing.” (Advance Slide) To make it possible for a Scout to get to the “outing” (Advance Slide) it takes dollars and cents. Camp Card sales help make the Scouting experience possible. That is why we have Camp Cards.

Sell Actively – Get Out and be Seen
Show & Sells (booth sales) are hands down, the BEST way to sell a LOT of cards very quickly! Average sales on a weekend = cards per hour Many units sell 500 cards in a weekend Safeway, Greene Turtle & Modell’s are great locations for a Booth Sale Do 2 or 3 weekends, sell 1,000 cards
12
Sales Pitch Customers need to hear the message 7 times before they get it Ask EVERYONE - if you don’t ask they won’t buy Repeat sales pitch over and over – coming in and out of store “Would you like to save $5 today and support the Scouts?” “Would you like to save 10% today and every time you shop here until the end of the year?” Speak clearly and use eye contact Be polite and thank everyone even if they don’t buy Don’t crowd customers – only one scout needs to assist a customer at a time
13
Product Knowledge Scouts need to know their product in order to sell it Make it a game!
14
Show & Sell District Chairs set up show and sell dates at Safeway and other locations Provide specific location instructions ie. Safeway has 2 entrances. Must be X feet away from entrance. Can only sell at one entrance. Set up Sign Up Genius and to camp card chairs – only allow 2 weekends until everyone has had a chance to sign up. Use Credit Card Reader
15
Display Table with poster or unit flag – Glue poster to foam core board Flyer with product information Wear official Scout uniform
16
Show and Sell Logistics
Only have 2 scouts and parents per shift Let shifts know they need to bring own change Give every shift an envelope to record Date & Time, Scouts Names, # of cards at beginning of shift and after, # cards sold, $ in envelope Print out Sign up Genius and check off envelopes received against sign up list to ensure you have collected from everyone Record sales on spread sheet to provide Troop Treasurer along with $ weekly
17
Other ways to sell Send Email to friends and family Door to Door
12/6/2018 Other ways to sell Send to friends and family Door to Door Sell to Co-workers Set up show and sell at church, club, school event, etc.

The Grocery No-Brainer
12/6/2018 The Grocery No-Brainer Explain the math to your Scouts’ parents who shop at Safeway or Giant Every time a Scout Parent spends $50 at one of these grocery stores without using a Camp Card they are losing $ $3.00 of free money GIANT accepts competitor’s coupons Safeway coupon is good in DC market too Sell in Multiples How many Cards should every scout parent who shops at one of these grocery store purchase? How many Camp Cards should every scout supporter (friend, neighbor, relative) purchase?
19
