Objective: Students will be able to evaluate expressions using order of operations and apply parenthesis to change the order of an expression

Expression and Equation Terms
Term Number, letter, or combination of both, Coefficient Number in from of variable Expression one or more terms separated by + or – Equation Expression with an equals sign

Order of Operations P – parenthesis, simplify inside first E – exponent M - multiplication D – division M and D are equal you perform whatever is first from right to left A - addition S – subtraction A and S are equal you perform whatever is first from right to left

Parenthesis Adding parenthesis in an expression can changing the order of operations, can make addition come before multiplication 3 * = 10 3 * ( ) = 18
