Objective: Students will be able to evaluate expressions using order of operations and apply parenthesis to change the order of an expression

2 Expression and Equation Terms
Term Number, letter, or combination of both, Coefficient Number in from of variable Expression one or more terms separated by + or – Equation Expression with an equals sign

3 Order of Operations P – parenthesis, simplify inside first E – exponent M - multiplication D – division M and D are equal you perform whatever is first from right to left A - addition S – subtraction A and S are equal you perform whatever is first from right to left

4 Parenthesis Adding parenthesis in an expression can changing the order of operations, can make addition come before multiplication 3 * = 10 3 * ( ) = 18

5 Describe the operation
Given the outputs of a problem state what is happening
