3 IEPs

4 MEETING INVITE Invitation to the IEP meeting should be sent at least 10 days prior to scheduled IEP meeting. BEST PRACTICE – Send the initial meeting invite 30 days prior to end date of IEP. This allows 3 opportunities/attempts for 10 day notice prior to the end of the IEP. (i.e. IEP end date of 10/31/2016 = 1st attempt 09/30/2016 for meeting on 10/10/2016) DOCUMENT ALL ATTEMPTS – final attempt should be documented with a certified letter

5 Prior Written Notice POST IT – when to send PWN
When a change occurs in the IEP, send PWN. It is not necessary to send PWN prior to a meeting, the invitation serves as the notice.

6 Document uploads Schools need to establish a protocol for uploading documents to EasyIEP (Once a week, Case Mgmt Day, etc.). Anything with INK should be uploaded. Naming Protocol - Please use the following: Month/Day/Year (Name of Document) example: “9/16/16 Eligibility Report” - See handout for additional examples This will help to ensure that documents are uploaded promptly and are available in the event that a student transfers or someone needs to reference a previous meeting.

11 PLACE WITH HOPE NOT FEAR!!!

12 Make decisions based on the individual student.
Hybrid schedules are OK Ease of adding service/support vs. taking away. IEP should reflect what a student NEEDS to access the curriculum like typical peers. Accommodations are NEEDS NOT options! Assessment and Placement are 2 different things and should be considered separately!
