2. Victoria has joined the global movement to keep the temperature rise to under 2 degrees
As you heard this morning from the Parliamentary Secretary, Anthony Carbines, Victoria is joining other leading countries and states around the world in committing to do our part to reduce emissions, and keep the global temperature rise to under 2 degrees.
TAKE2 pledge initiative is a key element of the government’s action on climate change to help reach this long term goal.
SV is leading the design of TAKE2 and delivery of the voluntary pledge program for:
Local government
Business and industry
Community and educational organisations, and
Individuals.

3. TAKE2 is a comprehensive state-wide program that enables all Victorians to be part of Victoria’s action on climate change, and pledge their commitment to help Victoria reach its emissions reduction target of net zero emissions by 2050.
It will recognise and showcase the leadership being shown by Victorian organisations who are already taking action every day. 
For councils, this could include current and existing pledges and commitments to other international pledge programs.
And, most importantly pledge actions will contribute to our first interim target.

4. Our Founding Partners
Local government have been leading the way on climate change at a local level.
It was fantastic that many of these leaders were happy to support the launch of the program and sign up as a Founding Partner.
We are delighted that MAV is of one of those.
The role of local government is pivotal to TAKE2 and will be instrumental to the success of the pledge program.
TAKE2 is a way to showcase and build upon your great work-to-date.
We hope that you and other organisations, businesses and individuals are inspired to pledge and be part TAKE2, Victoria’s collective climate change pledge.

5. What is the TAKE2 pledge?
A TAKE2 pledge is a universal pledge towards either taking specific action on reducing emissions, or influencing others to make their own commitment.

We are calling all Victorians to Take 2 steps:
Step 1. Take the universal pledge “Working together, we pledge to play our part and take action on climate change for Victoria, our country and our planet” at
Step 2. Share your pledge across your social networks through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn.
WHAT’S NEXT
In late August, we will ask all Victorians to commit to the actions they plan to implement. We will celebrate these and the collective actions of all Victorians on Pledge Action Day.
