Earth has 7 major lines of latitude:
1. equator – lies at 0°
2. Tropic of Cancer – lies at 23 ½°N
3. Arctic Circle – lies at 66 1/3°N
4. North pole – lies at 90°N

4. 5. Tropic of Capricorn – lies at 23 ½°S
6. Antarctic Circle – lies at 66 1/3°S
7. South Pole – lies at 90°S

5. Lines of Longitude Also known as meridians
Earth has 2 major lines of longitude:
1. Prime Meridian – 0°
2. International dateline – 180°

6. Hemispheres There are 4: 1. North 2. South
--these are divided by the Equator
3. West
4. East
--these are divided by the Prime Meridian

7. Assignment
Create an image of earth displaying the major lines of latitude AND longitude.
