4 Congruent Line Segments

5 Drawing a perpendicular bisector – Step 1
Identify the line segment.

6 Drawing a perpendicular bisector – Step 2
Place the compass point on one end of the line segment. Adjust the compass to just over ½ the length of the line segment.

7 Drawing a perpendicular bisector – Step 3
Two arcs using the same compass setting.

8 Drawing a perpendicular bisector - Step 4
Do the same thing after placing the compass point on the opposite end of the line segment.

9 Drawing a perpendicular bisector – Step 5
Using a straight edge/ruler, connect the two points of intersection with a straight line.

10 Drawing a Perpendicular Bisector
This line is the perpendicular bisector of the line segment.
