3 Plan the Removal #1 - The direction you want the tree to fall. #2 - Measure the height of the tree to ensure it falls clear of anything thus avoiding any damage to anything in the vicinity. #3 - Once the falling direction is decided, two long ropes now need to be tied to the top of the tree on the opposite side you want it to fall in. You will now be able to alter the direction the tree is lowered, thus avoiding any damage. Now that you have decided to remove the tree, the planning can commence. Always use a chainsaw to cut down a tree, never a hand saw or an axe. Cut the first cut sideways ‘V’ into the tree, do not cut a straight cut.
