8. Sadducees
The Sadducees were the white-collar, upper class religious group of society. Comprised of aristocrats, the Sadducees were politically involved among the wealthy. To them, only written law was authoritative, not oral tradition (law). They repudiated the doctrines of resurrection, the existence of angels, and a personal Messiah.
