1 Project 1: Investigating the Value versus Cost of Privacy in the Internet of Things REU Student: Patrick Dorton Graduate mentors: Salih Safa Bacanli and Neda Hajiakhoond Bidoki Faculty Mentor(s): Dr. Turgut and Dr. Wisniewski Week 5 (June 19 – June 23, 2017) Accomplishments: Configured Home PC to be able to be ran Remotely through third party software. Have begun development of the more advanced offer algorithms for PrivacyGate software. Learning about Linux Terminal commands and Scripting to Automate the removal of data from the device. Began LaTeX tutorials to prepare to write the final report. Issues/problems encountered and solutions (if any): Had issues with some third party software having timeout and compatibility issues that caused me to have to spend a lot of time going back and forth to my home PC to ensure configuration. Had some issues locating all the files that were pertinent to adjusting the algorithm. Plans for next week: With the files needed located, I will be adjusting the code to save more data about the offer acceptance and to generate dynamically changing offers.
