6 World War II 1940 Battle of Britain No. 303 „Polish” Squadron
This famous squadron was named after the Polish and United States hero General Tadeusz Kościuszko. No. 303 Squadron RAF was formed in July 1940 in Blackpool. The Polish War Memorial is a war memorial in London, in memory of airmen from Poland who served in the Royal Air Force as part of the Polish contribution to World War II. 126 German aircraft were claimed as shot down by No. 303 Squadron pilots during the Battle of Britain
