1 Endobronchial Ultrasonography Versus Mediastinoscopy: A Single-Institution Cost Analysis and Waste Comparison  Rafael S. Andrade, MD, Eitan Podgaetz, MD, MPH, Natasha M. Rueth, MD, Kaustav Majumder, MBBS, MD, Eric Hall, BS, Crystal Saric, MPNA, Lynn Thelen, RN  The Annals of Thoracic Surgery  Volume 98, Issue 3, Pages (September 2014) DOI: /j.athoracsur Copyright © 2014 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Terms and Conditions

2 Fig 1 Comparison of solid waste and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions between mediastinoscopy (MED) and endobronchial ultransonography (EBUS). Total solid waste generation for MED was 1.8 kg and for EBUS–TBNA it was 0.5 kg; GHG emissions for MED were 2.3 kg of CO2E and for EBUS–transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) they were 0.6 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2E).
