Measuring Time

Learning Goals To measure time, we start counting units of time when the activity begins and stop counting when the activity ends. The second is a small unit of time. It usually takes several seconds to measure the duration of an activity. Time can be shown using 12-h or 24-h notation. Four digits are used to write time in 24-h notation.

Many analog clocks show time in hours, minutes, and seconds. This clock shows a time of 10 hours, 10 minutes and 25 seconds. We write 10h 10 min 25 s In SI notation, we write: 10:10:25 SI Notation in time is telling time to the hour, second and minute (example 03:45:02). In date it tells the year month and day (example 2009 07 25).

What is the SI notation for the following Analog Clocks

What is the SI notation for the following Dates

What time is shown on this watch? Is it morning or afternoon? How do we show morning and afternoon when we write down times? Have you seen time written a different way?

Converting 24-hr to 12-hr 24 hr12 hr 13:55 19:37 22:56 00:01 08:30 11:15
