3. You will be examined in each of the four skills.
Listening

Writing

4. These skills will be assessed at the end of year 11.
Listening and Reading
These skills will be assessed at the end of year 11.
Each skill is 20% of the final mark. You can be entered for Foundation or Higher tier.
In order to gain grades A* to C, you will need to take the Higher tier for each skill.

5. This skill is 30% of the final examination mark.
Speaking
Your ability to speak the language will be assessed in school and marked by your teacher.
This skill is 30% of the final examination mark.
A minimum of two speaking assessments will be set and recorded over the two years.

6. Writing
Your ability to write the language will be assessed in school under close supervision.
This is called ‘Controlled Assessment’
This skill is 30% of the final examination mark.
A minimum of two pieces of writing must be submitted.

7. In Speaking and Writing, you will NOT BE ENTERED for Foundation or Higher Tier.
The Tier will be assessed by the Examination Board (AQA) and will depend on the quality of the work you submit.
