How do events cause characters to change? Events have an impact on how the character thinks, feels, and acts. What are some events that might occur in a story that would cause a character to change? Moving to a new place Getting a new job Going somewhere new Losing a family member Witnessing a tragic event Winning a game Losing a game

LEARNING TARGET: I CAN IDENTIFY HOW A CHARCTER CHANGES THROUGH THE TEXT. I CAN IDENTIFY WHAT CAUSES A CHARACTER TO CHANGE THROUGHOUT THE TEXT.

8 MAKE A TIMELINE YESTERDAY WE DISCUSSED THAT EVENTS CAUSE CHARACTERS TO CHANGE THROUGHOUT THE TEXT. TODAY WE WILL CREATE A DOUBLE TIMELINE THAT SHOWS HOW A CHARACTER CHANGES IN RESPONSE TO EVENTS THAT OCCUR IN THE TEXT.

9 MAKE A TIMELINE We are going to create a timeline that shows how Winnie Foster has changed in the novel, Tuck Everlasting. On the top of the timeline we will write what the event was and on the bottom we will write what Winnie’s characteristics are at that time.
