1 What is EM Technology? Who discovered EM Technology
When was EM discovered What domains are EM applicable How is EM Technology extended to other countries?

2 EM Products in Agriculture Production
EM Compost: Fixation of soil nutrients EM For Agriculture: Foliar Fertilizers EM.5: Pest and diseases control NB: EM are completely organic. Not genetically modified with no negative effects on human and the environment.

3 How was EM Technology introduce in Cameroon?
Adaptive research 2006 the homologation of EM Products by MINADER Organization of Seminars and Workshops

4 VISION OF EM CAMEROON To extend EM Technology throughout the national territory by 2018

5 Various crops where EM Products are applicable
All Food Crops and perennials such as: Cocoa, coffee oil palms etc Consumable vegetable such as, maize, beans, cabbages, vegetable etc

6 Application modes of the various EM products

7 Application of EM For Agric
Crops Stage/Age of plant Dosage Recommendations Vegetables Huckleberry Tomatoes ,paper etc Nursery/ Transplanting 3 tin tomato cup full into 15 liters of water Grains -Maize, Rice -one month after germination -3 tin tomato cup full into 15 liters of water Spray twice weekly for two weeks and repeat same dosage once at tarseling Tubers: Irish, cocoyams, yams -Land preparation, -planting, -two months after germination Spray once a week for one month and repeat same dosage at flowering

8 Crops Stage/Age of plant Dosage Recomendations Plantains /Bananas -Land preparation , Two months after 3 tin tomato cup full into 15 liters of water Spray twice a month for three months Citrus Oranges, Mangoes ,Plums -Land preparation , when the crop is growing or convenient height for spraying -3tin full of EM Agric and 3 full of EM5 into 15liters of sprayer -Sprayer four times for young plants, Twice at flowering and twice at fruiting Cocoa, coffee, palms -Land preparation , when the crop is growing, convenient height for spraying

9 EM5 application on crops repel pest on all crops.
-Aphids on vegetables (huckleberry, tomatoes, pepper, cabbages etc. -Blight on vegetables -Nematode on plantains -Ants on citrus plants -Capcid on cocoa -Caterpillars on coffee. etc

10 -Dilute 3 to 4 tin tomato cup into 15 liters of water and spray on all crops before and during pest attack -Spray intensively and more frequent during raining season -Spray three to four times at flowering and fruiting.

11 EM PRODUCTS USE FOR COMPOST PRODUCTION
EM FOR AGRICULTURE EM BOKASHI EM COMPOST

12 Compost Production Animal waste (Dry): Ratio of incorporation: 4kg of bokashi into 50kg of any animal manure except of poultry manure where you will use 3kg of bokashi into 50kg of the manure -Dilute 1tin tomato cup full(50-75mils) into 5liters of chlorine free water( rain, stream, well water etc) -Water or sprinkle the solution on the mixture and mix well to obtain homogeneity -Moisture content of 40% is reached.

13 Composting or EM Compost

14 Other Form of Composting

15 EM Compost application
Crops Stage/Age of plant Dosage Mode of application Vegetables Huckleberry Tomatoes ,paper etc Nursery/ Transplanting Nursery/one month after transplanting -1.5kg /Square M -One hand full per plant Broadcasting -Spot or ring Grains -Maize, Rice Land preparation, planting, One month after germination -one Spot or Ring Tubers: Irish, cocoyams, yams Land preparation, planting, two months after 1-2 hand full per plant

16 -One full spade per stand
Crops Stage/Age of plant Dosage Mode of application Plantains -Land preparation , planting and when the crop is growing -Half a spade per stand of EM Compost -Spot or ring Citrus Oranges, Mangoes ,Plums -One full spade per stand Spot or Ring Cocoa, coffee, palms

17 EM PRODUCTS USED IN AGRICULTURE
CROP / STAGE EM PRODUCT APPLICATION RESULT PERENNIALS NURSERY Bokashi and EM For Agriculture 4kgs Bokashi plus 300mls EM Agric per 01 wheelbarrow of black soil at 40% moisture , ferment for 2 -3 weeks All harmful micro-organisms are destroyed. Soil innoculated with effective microorganisms SEED PREPARATION EM 5 Spray vegetable seeds with EM 5 and dry under shade for minutes before nursing Prevents diseases and promotes sprouting / germination.

18 NURSERY MAINTENANCE EM 5 Spray 300ml / 15 liters chlorine free water weekly Prevents fungal attack Promotes sprouting / germination TRANSPLANTING EM COMPOST Broadcast for huckleberry Spot a handful for other vegetable Sterilizes soil through elimination of harmful microbes Enriches soils MAINTENANCE EM for Agriculture 300ml / sprayer at seedling establishment every four days for 3 weeks, and once a week till harvest. Spray immediately after harvest for huckleberry 300ml/ sprayer weekly till harvest Intensify spraying at the the attack of aphids, blight, etc - High quality vegetable leaves are obtained - Rottening of cabbages and lettuce is arrested - Duration of harvesting of huckleberry is increased - Shelf life of the harvested crops is prolonged - The green leaves are consumed without effects - The weight of cabbages is increased

19 Things to avoid when composting Chlorine water or chemical water
Things to avoid when composting Chlorine water or chemical water. Avoid air from getting into the mixture during the period of fermentation Do not expose the manure to rain or sun during the process.

20 Advantages of EM Compost over conventional inputs
Chemical Inputs Dangerous to handle by a local farmer Relatively Expensive Not Environmentally friendly Not sustainable (easily leached in soils Produce crops with residues Easy to handle by a local farmer Cheap Environmentally friendly Sustainable (Last longer in soils) Produce yield of good quality Treat Disease soils

21 SOME CROPS CULTIVATED WITH EM PRODUCTS

22 Spraying with EM For Agriculture

23 HUCKLEBERRY, SHALLOT AND AMARANTUS

24 Celery

25 Organic Tea Produce with EM Products

26 Advantages of EM Products in Agricultural Production
Promote germination Improve the health of soil and plants Transform disease inducive to suppressive Transform of organic waste into manure Increase yield with good quality Degradation of toxicants including pesticides Enhance the photosynthetic capacity of crops

27 STRATEGIES Create 10 Regional offices in high production zones (basins) Intensify adaptive research and regional speculation specific research with quantitative analysis Establish a network of distributors, linking them to regional offices Exploit all ways and means to advertise the technology Build capacities of workers and provide an enabling working environment.

28 Major Partners of EM Cameroon
EMRO Japan Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development GTz Maroua A host of NGOs and Individuals

29 SO THAT TOGETHER WE CAN BUILD A BETTER SOCIETY ,NATION AND THE WORLD
THANK YOU EAT ORGANIC DREAM ORGANIC LIVE ORGANIC SO THAT TOGETHER WE CAN BUILD A BETTER SOCIETY ,NATION AND THE WORLD
