Daily Life in the time of Jesus To describe how people made a living the time of Jesus To recognise significant places at the time of Jesus To evaluate some misconceptions about Jesus and the disciples 1. What evidence do we have about what life was like, at the time of Jesus? 3. Which source of evidence do you think is a) the most detailed b) the most convincing? Why? **How would the presence of rich Romans in the area have made jobs for the Jews? HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT LIFE WAS LIKE THEN? 1.The gospels are full of details about how life was lived at the time of Jesus, what kind of people were living there. 2.Archaeologists have looked for the places mentioned in the gospels and found them. They also found evidence of objects, showing the kind of life described in the gospels eg evidence of fishing industry, weaving, type of tools used etc. 3.There are also historical documents written by non- Christians which support the details given in the gospels eg that Pontius Pilate was Roman Governor of Israel at that time, and the place names mentioned in the gospels.
