Summary PhD holders as “research managers” with academic research experience and knowledge about the industrial demand and technology transfer; they contribute thus to the increase of the industrial innovation level PhD candidates/holders set out a personalized high-quality training program planned within a strong partnership between University and industry supplement the traditional PhD study program with specific activities aimed at fostering the researchers’ placement in companies and provide the socio-economic system with highly qualified people, capable of interpreting, orienting and responding to the demand of advanced scientific and technologic knowledge
