1 MY CAREER COMPASS TO BECOMING A BAKER
Paris Ali

2 Baking is something I have always been interested in
Baking is something I have always been interested in. My mom and Nana were always baking banana bread or pies and even creating new recipes. As a kid I wanted to be just like them, so whenever they were baking something I would bug them until they let me help. In grade eight all I really wanted for Christmas was an electric mixer. In grade nine I finally got one along with four different recipe books. WHY?

3 Short term Goals Take a baking apprenticeship to gain experience.
Graduate high school after studying hard and getting good grades. Take courses at The Pastry Training Centre of Vancouver I will take the Professional Pastry Training Series program. The ten courses will cost approximately $2250 plus tax.

4 Obtain a job at any bakery, (preferably at one of Duff Goldman’s Charm City Cakes) a specific position I have in mind would be trying out new recipe’s and/or making and icing the cupcakes. (or making cakes like on Cake Boss) LONG TERM GOALS

5 Skills, Attributes, and Education
To be a baker you need to have good coordination and speaking skills as well as critical thinking and time management. To become a qualified baker you usually need to complete an apprenticeship. A bread making or baking (combined) apprenticeship usually takes 36 months to complete. Or have taken a training program or an associates degree. In this field, work experience is typically more important than a general education, so bakers don’t usually require a college education. Skills, Attributes, and Education

6 Salary and Job Description
Bakers make $ a year. A baker’s job includes measuring and mixing ingredients into dough, baking it and/or decorating the final project. It is very important for the baker to stay organized and clean throughout the day. Bakers work on a tight schedule, and they often need to work nights, early mornings and usually holidays. I think this job would be good for me because baking is my passion, and having your work be your passion you would constantly come to work happy and you would be able to make a career out of it. Salary and Job Description

7 If I am not able to pay for the courses I wish to take I can always get a part-time job as well as take the courses. If I don’t get the specific job position that I wanted I can always work hard to achieve that position. Potential hurdles
