ACTIONS TYPES PARENTS’ FEELINGS YOUR FEELINGS
We talked about all the different devices and apps, and all the many ways we communicate through them, and with them. We also said that while we enjoy being connected, sometimes it can be overwhelming. That we can take control and turn it off, and unplug. Modrow explained what a “football widow” is, and asked if students ever felt like “facebook Orphans?” She mentioned that in the car is a great place to talk and connect with our parents, because devices aren’t allowed to be in use.

After reading the mother’s letter and Carolyn’s advice, Modrow asked the students if they thought the advice was a good idea. If some students said they never wanted their parents to check into their social media, then Modrow pointed out why a good parent should want to keep tabs on their kids – to prevent the bullying from happening to their child AND prevent the child from bullying others. MANY of the students agreed that Carolyn’s advice was fair.
