Project Overview Active Parking Assist allows for automatic parking of a vehicle, given certain prerequisites. The driver is licensed and alert while the system is active The system is capable of accurately and quickly detecting errors within the software and hardware The vehicle subsystems used by the APA system are functional, and will correctly report their functionality or lack thereof 2
3
Motivation Motivation for project
Increase safety for both driver and other nearby parties Provide convenience for driver 3

Overview of Features Automatic parking Collision prevention
Perpendicular and parallel Process HMI, camera, sensors Collision prevention Sensors, collision detection System reaction Brake, disable 4
5
Domain Research Investigated:
Existing sensors and actuators on vehicles Parking assistants Human Machine Interface UI/UX Apply knowledge on automatic parking rather than assisted parking 5
6
Constraints HMI software must able to communicate with the embedded systems of the subsystem involved If any hardware component of any of the subsystem fails, the user will not be able to activate the APA system System must avoid collision with obstacles that are detected through sensors during a parking maneuver 6
