1 Tweak of the week - SMSC

2 ‘Social’ strand is key in PE lessons
Ofsted – Pupils’ social development is shown by their: S1: Use of a range of social skills in different contexts, including working and socialising with pupils from different religious, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. S2: Willingness to participate in a variety of communities and social settings, including by volunteering, cooperating well with others and being able to resolve conflicts effectively. S3: Acceptance and engagement with the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs; the pupils develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain.

3 Why use different roles?
Not just about performance Takes pressure/focus off individuals in activities like athletics Can use their strengths to contribute to the groups success

4 How it works… Lessons are pupil driven with teacher support Support others in the group to complete the event as best they can Work out group average score

5 Converting into points…
This score is then converted into points as a group Still encouraging competition, but without isolating weaker/less confident students Everyone contributes to group score

6 What areas does it hit? M1 – Ability to recognise the difference between right and wrong – opportunity to cheat – what would it gain? M2 – Understanding the consequences of behaviours and actions – working hard for others in your group (average scores) As well as obvious SOCIAL aspects
