Reminders:
DO NOT GIVE ME A RESPONSE WHICH IS ONE GIANT PARAGRAPH
Meet the MINIMUM word count: 300 (not including the heading and a copy of the poem, which I don’t need anyway)
Don’t bother with line citations
Include a separate intro paragraph
Tell me the title and author in that intro paragraph (your response title doesn’t count)
Use evidence
Use the quarter-sheet rubric I gave you last semester
Use all your sparkly new poetry resources
Use a poem that you can actually respond to academically
You’re writing a response like what you’d do for an FRQ

You MUST bring me a hard copy of that item the day you return
If you are absent when there’s a quiz/assessment:
You MUST make it up by 5 days after the original assessment date

4. TPFASTT round 2 composition (10 mins.)
Choose one of the three poems from this round
“Sonnet 18” by William Shakespeare
“The Whipping” by Robert Hayden
“Ballad of Birmingham” by Dudley Randall
Compose an analysis of that poem (like a poetry response)
You should include:
an introduction that sets the context of your analysis and includes the title and author of the text
a specific, appropriate thesis statement
a clear, formal exploration of the text
direct and indirect textual evidence (line citation not necessary)
topic sentences which present an idea/claim that supports your thesis
inclusion of poetic devices which support your idea/claim
Type your response in a Google document.

5. TPFASTT round 2 peer-editing (10 mins.)
Trade computers with a trusted colleague.
Add Comments on the document.
Did the writer include all of the following?
