Welcome to week 3 of our Voice series.
2
Let’s rewind what we covered last Sunday!
3
Prophecy defined: Prophecy is divinely inspired messages revealing God’s will or nature.
4
Gifts of the spirit: Faith is key to moving in the gifts
5
Growing in our revelation of God is the best way to grow in the prophetic gift.
6
The aim of prophecy is to Strengthen, Encourage and Comfort People.
7
Foundations For Accurate Prophecy: Knowing the Word, Understanding the Cross, Humility and Faith.
8
We need to be tuned into God’s voice to hear from him and discern it from other voices around us.
9
Okay, so let’s move on with this weeks session!
10
1. There are three parts to prophecy: Revelation (sharing what God tells or shows us to pass on to the person), Interpretation (interpreting what it means to them) and Application (where the person figures our what it means to their lives). Application is not our job.
11
2. There are four kinds of prophetic gifting: (1) Visual, (2) Auditory, (3) Tactile and (4) Intuitive. These are the ways in which God reveals to us a word for someone. We can see something (like a vision or a picture), we can hear something, we can feel something in our body that tells us something about what they are experiencing or we can suddenly just know something is true about the person.
12
3. We often receive in lower levels of revelation
3. We often receive in lower levels of revelation. Higher levels of revelation involve having a vision or being visited by an angel who speaks to us directly about the person. Lower levels of revelation involve the four kinds of prophetic gifting mentioned in point 2.
13
But it is equally important, with more chance of inaccuracy and involves symbolism.

4. Prophetic words can be given to both believers and non-believers so avoid Christianese!
16
5. Delivering a prophetic word - Say both revelation and interpretation, reflecting level of revelation.

When delivering a Word – Avoid Dramatics!
18
When delivering a Word – Avoid Application!

6. Fore-telling vs. Forth-telling
6. Fore-telling vs. Forth-telling. Fore-telling involves sharing what is going to happen in the future, while Forth-telling is speaking forth what a person can become or experience if they act on a word of prophecy.

7. New Testament prophecy vs. Old Testament prophecy
7. New Testament prophecy vs. Old Testament prophecy. In the Old Testament before Jesus had come there was the need to warn people of sin and speak God’s judgment to people but in the New Testament era – since Jesus has come - that is no longer necessary so we prophesy grace to people not judgment.

8. The Importance of scripture
8. The Importance of scripture. Prophetic words cannot contradict scripture. Our words may give specificity where scripture does not. They bring confirmation of Scripture.

9. Prophetic Gifting vs. Prophet
9. Prophetic Gifting vs. Prophet. You may start to operate in the prophetic gifting but that does not mean that you can start calling yourself a prophet – which is one of the 5-fold gifts that God gives to the body. Graeme Cooke says that it takes between 25 to 30 years for a prophetic to be developed.

10. Prophetic words create identity - We need to choose to live according to that identity.
25
11. Prophetic words can be accepted or rejected by hearer - We choose the application of prophetic words.
