What made it difficult to identify who the Nacirema are? What clues helped you identify the Nacirema? What practices or rituals of other cultures might appear odd or hard for us to understand?

Use the map of the regions of N.C. on your handout and pp in your textbook and: Label where the Algonquin, Tuscarora, Catawba, and Cherokee live. For the four main tribes or groups (Algonquin, Tuscarora, Catawba, Cherokee), answer the following: What did EACH tribe or group speak? Describe their culture in one or two sentences. What difficulties do you think it would create if two tribes with different languages ran into each other? How could the two different-language tribes solve their differences? How does our studying these different Native American tribes and their different languages apply to us today?
