Traditional Cavity Wall Construction This is historically the most common way to build a house, using brick and block with an insulation gap between the walls. Traditional construction can be delayed by things such as weather or supplies not being delivered on time. Scaffolding is required for most of the construction of the superstructure, which provides the main support for the roof and the floors. The floors are normally supported by timber joists, with chipboard on top. The internal walls are normally not load bearing and made from simple studwork.
