1 MOCK TEST 7 ( ) DETAILED ANALYSIS

2 Expected time to complete
INTRODUCTION Mock Test 7 follows the CLAT pattern wherein the students are subjected to the same level of difficulty both in terms of question type and level. The mock test comprises of five sections with a total of 200 questions. A student is expected to attempt this test in an actual test like environment wherein he has 120 minutes to complete the test and thus need to schedule his/her time accordingly. 3 ENGLISH This section was of moderate level of difficulty. The section consisted of: 3 questions on Sentence Jumbles 3 questions on Vocabulary - Antonyms 3 questions on Parts of Speech 1 Reading Comprehension questions 6 questions on Idioms 4 questions on Word Spelling 5 questions on Vocabulary - Synonyms 5 Fill in the Blank questions The various questions are now described in detail:

Q1 was analytical and could have been left unattempted by someone who found it difficult to make any sense of it. 4 to 6 Vocabulary - Antonyms (in sentence form) Moderate The three questions on antonyms were of moderate difficulty level. Those who are not comfortable with antonyms could have left the question unattempted. 7 to 9  Identifying Parts of Speech Easy  The difficulty level of these questions was easy and atleast two out of three should have been attempted. 10 to 19 Reading Comprehension The questions were of a moderate difficulty level. 7 out of 10 questions should have been attempted.

One should have tried to make sense of the other idioms by reading the whole sentence and relating the idioms to the options. 26 to 30 Vocabulary - Spelling Easy - Moderate Commonly confused spellings were asked. At least three should have been attempted. 31 to 35 Vocabulary - Synonyms The synonyms asked were of a moderate difficulty level and 3 out of 5 would have been a good attempt. 36 to 40 Fill in the Blanks Easy This set of 5 questions was fairly easy and at least 3 should have been attempted. Someone with a strong Vocabulary could have easily attempted Q38. However, someone who is not comfortable with vocabulary could have left the question unattempted since the questions were similar sounding and hence, confusing.

6 GENERAL KNOWLEDGE This section of MOCK TEST – 7 has 50 questions in all with major focus on static GK. Out of the total 50 questions, 30 questions were from static GK and 20 questions from current affairs. In static section, more weight was given to geography followed by history and science. Overall difficulty level was easy to moderate. Current affairs were mainly based on famous personalities. Apart from it questions were also from places and miscellaneous fields too. The difficulty level of current affairs was easy. Further, the final break-up summary can be analyzed with the help of following table:

All the questions should have been attempted. 120 to 125 Statement – Argument Moderate – Difficult The questions range from moderate to difficult level. The argument should be considered strong or week depending upon it’s gravity with respect to the given statement. Atleast 4 out of 6 questions should have been attempted.

An implicit assumption is one which when negated affects the given statement. So, if the statement remains unaffected even when the assumption is negated, it is not implicit in the statement. Atleast 3 of 5 questions should have been attempted. 131 to 135 Cause – Effect Moderate All the questions were of moderate level. Each word needs to be given proper attention. If you sense a gap between the cause and effect, then it needs to be analysed thoroughly. All the questions should have been attempted.

14 Legal aptitude This section had 50 questions on Legal Aptitude comprising of both Legal Reasoning as well as Legal Knowledge. The section consisted of: Legal Reasoning (35 questions) Legal Knowledge (15 questions) Overall, the section was of Moderate difficulty level. The Legal Reasoning section tested the ability of students to understand and interpret questions with multiple principles and explanations and the combined application of the same to factual matrix to reach the best answer. And, in order to answer the questions based on Legal Knowledge, students were expected to have knowledge of various concepts under Constitutional Law, General Principles of Law and Tort Law. An attempt between the range of would be considered a good attempt for this section.

15 details Legal Reasoning: The Legal Reasoning of Mock 7 was having a difficulty level of moderate amount. This section was dominated by questions from Torts, Contracts Law and Criminal Law along with a few questions from Constitutional Law, Family Law and General Principles of Law. An approach of judicious prioritization of questions is important. Legal Knowledge: The Legal Knowledge part of Mock 7 was a mixed bag and contained questions majorly from Torts. Apart from that there were questions from Constitutional Law, Contracts, Family Law and other General Principles of law.

17 Question analysis Question 151 to 153: It is a cluster question on Contracts dealing with the topic of Misrepresentation. The question consisted of 5 principles followed by facts. In question 151, the point to be determined specifically is whether the information provided by the store executive falls into the purview of misrepresentation? The store representative positively asserted about a particular brand to be the best brand in India when his information was not warranted rather it was provided to him by a coworker. Hence it can be said that there indeed was misrepresentation on part of store executive. In question 152 it is clear from facts that the decision made by A was based on his personal requirement and not on the information given by store executive. In question 153, as explained above in question 152, the facts clearly provide A’s decision was based on his personal requirements and hence he cannot avoid the contract.

18 Question analysis Questions 171 and 172: It was a cluster question dealing with principles of both Indian Penal Code and Contracts. The Principles of Contracts dealt with the issue of taking consent by means of coercion. It was a very interesting question as it brought into picture concepts of two different topics in the same question. In Question 171, the threat to institute criminal prosecution cannot be said to amount to coercion per se as it is a mere warning of taking legal action which is not an offence under any law anywhere in the world. It can be said to have the same effect as a legal notice served through proper channel. Question 172 dwells on the application of IPC overseas. Keep in mind that it is not necessary for the IPC to be in force at the place where consent was obtained.

19 Question analysis Question 182 to 184: It was a cluster question on Torts dealing with the topic of nuisance. The question consisted of 4 principles and a really long set of facts. Though there were 3 questions based on these set of principles, the candidate should attempt the question depending upon the time frame. Skipping this question might not be an entirely wrong choice. A very careful reading of the facts and principles is required to arrive at the right options. Hence, a very patient reading would be required.
