Landscape Regions
2
Landscapes Features of Earth’s surface at the interfaces between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and the top of the lithosphere. Characteristics: Slope of land, shape of features, stream drainage patterns, stream slope, soil properties, evidences of human occupation.
3
Mountain, Plateau, and Lowland (Plain)
Landscape regions are identified based on elevation and bedrock structure. Mountain, Plateau, and Lowland (Plain)
4
Mountain An area of high elevation, usually has regions of steep gradient, and has a distorted bedrock structure.
5
Plateau An area of high elevation, horizontal bedrock structure, more level gradient.
6
An area of low elevation, level surface.
Lowland (Plain) An area of low elevation, level surface.
7
Causes of Different Landscape Regions
1. Bedrock composition 2. Weathering 3. Erosion
