Receive Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. From the first letter of Paul to Timothy, chapter 4, verse 12

Engage We learn a lot form our parents, such as discipline and maturity. For many they are an inspiration and encourage us to do our best. As children we rely on them a lot but when we become teenagers we start to take in all of their advice on how to live life and start making our own experiences that we will pass down. We normally relate adults to being wise and respected. They usually hold many responsibilities that we could only dream of. But as teenagers we can work hard prepare ourselves for that time that we have to be an influence to someone younger and have to make a living for ourselves.

Engage Video suggestion …
Why teenagers are better than adults! Some discussion ideas … Who do you think is better adults or teens? Why? What responsibilities do adults have that teenagers don’t have? (and vice versa?) Discussion techniques - Go back to the Bible passage ask “How does the theme link with the Bible passage?” Discuss the question in pairs for 30 seconds then invite a response from each pair. Use quick-fire answers e.g. throw a soft bean bag / toy to a student, when they answer they throw it back and you quickly throw to another student. Simplify the question - Invite quick one-word answers, write them on the board, then reflect on the answers – see connections. Activity suggestion … Have a debate in the class on who you think is better.

Respond Amen Lord Father,
[Reflect for a minute on the worship theme and our engagement …] Lord Father, we pray for wisdom and courage for the life you have planned ahead of us. We pray for every person, old and young, that they will be encouraged to be all they can be. Amen ,Prayer / reflection technique – Give a summary of the theme and any responses that students may have made, then invite everyone to be still (remind no books open etc – lessen distraction). To pray or reflect on today’s worship. Be quiet for one minute. Then say the prayer …
