Planning *You have a lot of time for this exam (1 hour and 45 minutes) so use it wisely. Spend some time planning for Q2 (use your sheet with the texts on). Highlight information First bullet point Second bullet point Third bullet point

Q2 – TOP TIPS Separated into different parts);
Spend roughly 30 minutes; Find the correct paragraph and draw a box around it; Short quotations (key words); Explore each word/phrase separately; Learn names of techniques for higher marks: simile/metaphor/personification/repetition/adjective s; Show you understand meaning/effect; Your own words.

Question One *In this question you often have to pretend to be someone else! *You have to read the text, then answer a question based on the people mentioned. *It’s usually an interview between two people, but it can be a report, a letter or an article.

Q2 – directed writing TOP TIPS
Use what you have read in your writing Follow the instructions the examiner gives you exactly Start at the beginning of the passage and work down Write at least 1 ½ to 2 sides of writing

For Q2, it might be a conversation, but it could also be: *A letter *An article *A speech *A report

Q3 – TOP TIPS Spend about 45 minutes
You can do Q3 first! You don’t have to answer the questions in order. Highlight key words in the question Highlight key points from the text Ignore difficult words None of your own views/assumptions. You’re just translating! No first person!

English Literature Of Mice and Men An Inspector Calls
1 hour and 45 minutes (50 minutes on each question and 5 minutes to check) Answer one question on each. Introduce your response. 5-7 PEELLO chains and then conclude your ideas.

English Literature Make sure your focus is always on the question-really think about what it is asking you. Explore language fully-what do the words suggest to you? Be aware of the order of events and try to recognise this in your answer. The author/playwright ordered events in a particular way for a reason! Add context in to your answer to support your ideas.

English Literature 1 hour and 30 minutes. Two parts.
Part 1- will be a question on an unseen poem. It will ask you to explore something specific (how something is presented) and it will require you to look at form, structure and language. Part 2- The Anthology. You will be given the poems that we have studied. You will have a choice of two questions. One will ask you something on two poems and the other question will ask you to explore something in one poem that they have given you and then one of your own choosing.
