2 On the Periodic Table Calcium is an Alkaline Earth Metal
Its Atomic Number is 20 Mass of AMU Boiling Point 1484.0ºC K 2703.2ºF Melting Point 839.0ºC K 1542ºF

3 Characteristics It has a dull gray, silvery color to it.
Solid at 298 K Brittle and Ductile Conductor of Electricity Reacts with Oxygen from the air When it reacts it immediately changes into calcium oxide which is an insulator Radioactive with water

4 History First used by the Ancient Romans.
Prepared lime as calcium oxide 1808, England, Sir Humphrey Davy isolated it. Jöns Jakob Berzelius prepared calcium amalgem by electrolizing lime in Mercury. This is what motivated Sir Humphrey Davy to attempting at isolating Calcium

5 Why is it Essential for kids?
If growing kids, and teenagers don’t get enough calcium, or as much as they need, their bones will not be as strong as they could be. This will cause weak bones and weak bones break more easily. They should get 1200mg of calcium a day.
