Hello and welcome to a quick guide to Profile Plus CD-ROM. This resource that accompanies your textbook offers you a wealth of information that will help you succeed in this course. This wellness tool will allow you to better understand your diet and exercise status and learn how to adjust your choices to better meet your personal health goals.

2 When you first launch the CD-ROM, you are required to enter your personal “profile” to ensure an accurate analysis of the various fitness and wellness assessments. You can also include your instructor’s address so reports can later be ed to him/her. Personal Profile

3 After you enter your profile, next you can choose a chapter by simply highlighting it with your cursor. Once a chapter is selected, you are provided with a list of activities specific to the content that you’re learning. Chapter Activities

4 “Assess Your Knowledge” are 10 multiple choice questions that focus you on key concepts from each chapter aiding in better retention of chapter content. Assess Your Knowledge

5 Results can be e-mailed or printed
Once you answer the questions, you can print or the results to your professor. Results can be ed or printed

6 To help you better prepare for exams, the “Practice Quiz” section includes 20 multiple choice or true/false questions. Similar to “Assess Your Knowledge,” once you have answered the questions, you can print or the results to your professor. 7 The “Key Terms” section not only provides the definitions to important terms covered in the course, but also allows you to test your knowledge by asking you to match the term to the definition. Key Terms

8 Fitness & Wellness Assessments
There are a variety of fitness and wellness assessments, each correlated to the chapters of the text. There are many providing you with the opportunity to assess your fitness and wellness status and develop reasonable fitness and wellness goals for optimal health. Fitness & Wellness Assessments

9 You can also track your daily food intake for as many days as you choose. There are approximately 6,000 foods in the database so whether you’re a vegetarian or adhere to high protein food choices, you should be able to complete your assignment. In this section, you can also learn about the nutrient values of each food in the database. Once a you enter your food intake for a given day, you can analyze the data and see how many calories have been consumed, how much fat, protein, carbohydrates, etc. These results can also be printed or ed to your professor. 10 Cardio Respiratory Exercise Prescription
The “Cardio respiratory Exercise Prescription” section asks you questions regarding your health and fitness (past and present) before prescribing an exercise plan. You are also given a set of “screening” questions and based on those results, a recommendation may be given to you to see a physician before starting an exercise plan. 11 The “Exercise Log” section allows you to track your physical activity.

12 You are asked to input your weight, heart rate, the duration of the activity, and the distance. Should you not remember how to calculate your heart rate or have questions about the proper duration to input, definitions are provided by clicking on the icon. Once the activity has been logged, the you are provided with an analysis, showing totals and averages of each activity, and most importantly, the calories burned. Behavior Change Plan

13 Your Fitness & Wellness Profile
The “Fitness & Wellness Profile” combines the information from the completed assessments and nutrition analysis section and provides an overall summary. Also included are a rating (poor, low, average, good) and recommendations for what result you should be targeting. Should you want to quickly locate an activity/assessment, you can do so by selecting the “Activities Index.” Your Fitness & Wellness Profile
