PURPOSE OF COOL Is to learn what civilian credentials pertain to your military training, experience, and view resources available to help attain those credentials.

WHAT COOL PROVIDES Identifies requirements and gaps between Navy training and civilian credentialing. Provides resources available to fill gaps. Provides guidance to obtain funding. Rating/MOS and collaterals are applied. Other key resources such as Advancement Bibliography’s (BIBS) and Learning and Developing Roadmaps (LaDRs).

AVENUES OF CREDENTIALING
National certifications and federal licenses May require additional education, training or experience. State Licensure Apprenticeship Opportunity to improve job skills and to complete their civilian apprenticeship requirements.

STATE LICENSURE Will refer to after selection of license or certification. Click on the license/cert you want, at the state you plan on living in. Requirements and how to obtain will be in license/cert description.

APPRENTICESHIP Will refer you to USMAPS to obtain a certificate, once you have met the training criteria.

Why is “COOL” important?
Improve chances at promotion in civilian and military careers. Job opportunity. Can contribute to military career development. Some state laws require you to have a certificate or license.

SUMMARY The “COOL” tool is an extremely helpful tool. A lot of certificates and license can be covered by the G.I. bill. Although best used while in military it can be used after separation as a source to find local agencies and get information pertain to said certificate or license.
