Committee Update Spring Business Meeting 2010 Denver, Colorado

Purpose of Technical Committee
Identify and discuss air monitoring, modeling and emission inventory issues affecting western states Share information and issues between western states If needed raise issues or concerns to the national level

Representation Two co-chairs serve 2 years
Momentum increasing after a break in late 2009 Participation in calls is increasing Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service participate in calls

Current Activities Monthly Conference Calls (4th Wednesday of the month) Priority issues are: Revised monitoring standards and resulting monitoring regulations for PM Coarse, Lead, Ozone, SO2 and NO NCore monitoring site implementation and funding Funding (or lack thereof) for the above initiatives 2010 EPA Network Assessment due July 1, 2010 NSR (PSD and Non-attainment area) modeling EPA guidance for PM2.5 and 1-hour NO2 modeling

Future Direction Promising
Information sharing between committees – the recent presentation by Colleen Delaney from the Planning Committee of the ozone comment letter was well received Needed More involvement from modelers and emission inventory staff is desired. The committee is heavily monitoring driven at this point
