1 Finding the equation of a line
Given two points

2 Example 1. A line passes through the points (-2, 5) and (6, -1)
Find the slope of the line Find the equation of the line Replace m, x and y Use the point (-2, 5)

3 Example of y=mx+b formula Part 1
State the slope, the y-intercept, and the equation for the line on the grid. First you must find the slope by finding 2 points on the grid where the line for sure passes over. The two points I picked are (1,5) and (-3,-1). You could use the formula to find the slope, or you could just count. Either way the slope would end up being 3/2. Now you have to find the y-intercept.To do so you must substitute in a point on the graph like this. Substituting Point (1,5): A The y-intercept is 7/2. Now that you have all the parts to get the equation, all you do is put them into their proper place like so: Slope= Y-intercept= So the equation for line AB= B
