Get Library Card - Have a signup day at your school Booklists – Promote High Interest Books for Boys Book Talks - Ongoing at School; Audio/Video Build Relationships thru Boy Friendly Book Clubs Create/Celebrate Boys Reading Week; A Day for Men Reading to Boys; Outstanding Boy Readers, etc. Contests – Scavengers Hunts, Puzzles, Games, etc. Displays and Posters of (YOUR) Boys Reading Create a Boys Reading Advisory Group to get input Flocabulary and other programs that involve music Freedom and Choice - Make sure they have choices Get out of the library – Encourage reading WWW Word Clouds of book descriptions

Have The Student Answer These Questions (Grades 4 and up): What are all of the negative things that will happen to you today and in the future if you don’t become a good reader? What will your family and friends think about you if you are not a good reader? How will not being a good reader influence the kind of job you will have? How will not being a good reader impact the money you can make in your life?…The family you want to have? The home you want to live in? What people think about you? The support you can give to your family?

Compelling Reasons To Change – Not Your Reasons, But Theirs! Questions are the Key! Questions change what the mind/brain is focused on. Questions open the doorway to see new possibilities. Questions are part of how we program our mind/brain. Questions about potential losses and negativity are more power than questions about the good consequences.
