Week 1/15
Remember to dress the kiddos warm enough for outdoor recess. We will, when possible, go OUTSIDE.
In Reading we continue in our Reading Street Series. We will be discussing contractions, linking verbs, main selection and drawing conclusions. We will not have a book report/project this month. The next one will be assigned in February, however, students should continue to read on their own and complete the reading log, which they will turn in when finished for classroom incentives.
We are moving on in Math with multiplication. Students should be practicing their basic facts, as well as, logging on to Xtra Math each night.(Re: Xtra Math - I have recently gone in and changed the practice to all multiplication and division.)
In Religion we are continuing to learn about the liturgical season Ordinary time. A study guide has come home and we will have a religion test (on Advent, Christmas and the beginning of Ordinary Time) next Monday, January 22. The study guide is available on my class webpage as well.

Due the crazy weather and the number of delays and cancellations we have had, we will be busy in class catching up on missed tests and quizzes. I realize we normally don’t schedule these for Mondays, however, it has become necessary for the next few weeks. When possible, study guides are provided to focus their study. In addition, we have spent class time going over the material necessary for the assessment, therefore the amount of study time over the weekend should not be excessive. I appreciate your understanding and ask for your support in reminding the children, they may in fact have a little bit of study time over the weekend. This is a good life lesson in flexibility. Remind them that change can happen. When you accept, embrace, and learn from change, you inevitably grow stronger! These kids are strong – THEY CAN DO IT! We will get back “on schedule” as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and support.
