6 Knowing what money you’ve got
How much money did you think was in the purse? What have you got left? Did anyone run out of money? If so, how much more money did you need? How much money did you receive in total from the cards?  How much money in total did the cards tell you to spend? Why do you think it is important to know how much money you have? Have cloth bags or envelopes with no more than £3 in each (vary the amounts in each purse so that some pairs will run out of money during this activity) Place some extra coins on each table - £3 to £4 of coins per group Don’t let the children count the money to start with, they can have a quick look inside the bag to ‘guesstimate’ how much they think they have What else do you think you can do to help you know how much money you have?
