Comprehensive Programming within a Total School Community

2 Practice 4a states Delivers AIG programs and services which
are comprehensive of the academic, intellectual, social, and emotional needs of gifted learners across all grade levels and settings.

3 Traditionally, gifted programs have provided services in grades 4-8…
new NC AIG State Program Standards require services for grades K-12

4 Region 2 is sharing how we address our youngest and our oldest students.

5 In grades K-3, students can be nurtured in whole class lessons or with small group instruction.
PETS Program Primary Education Thinking Skills Pieces of Learning

6 Based on 6 characters and thinking skills, students practice convergent, divergent, and evaluative thinking.

7 Teachers can use checklists during whole class lessons to determine small groups in need of additional nurturing.

8 Consistent communications with families is important.

9 Classroom teachers can be trained to implement this service.
