Linear- information flows from the text to the reader (p.43)
Recursive- information is a two way transaction between the reader and text; reader interprets, reflects questions information, and writes while reading (p.44)
Dialectical Thinking- back and fourth movements between creative & critical thoughts trying to answer questions a reader might encounter

4. Reading “Images” Look closely- appeal to sight
Find the subject- particular visual subject
Understand context & genre- interpretation of image

Interaction of words & pictures
