Matter What is matter? Changes of states?
Particle theory (connect to change of state and matter). Classification of Matter (pure substances, mixtures – identify and describe). Physical and Chemical properties (determine based on examples). Physical and Chemical changes (identify with examples). Solving Density problems (use formula).
3
The atom Periodic table: metals, non-metals, metalloid location and properties. Proper chemical symbol structure. Standard notation. Organization of the periodic table: groups and periods. Location of properties of: alkali’s, alkaline earth’s, halogens, noble gases. Atomic theory scientists and their contributions.
4
The atom Components of an atom: protons, electrons, neutrons.
How to determine proton, electron and neutron numbers. Atomic mass, mass number and atomic number – what they mean etc. Bohr diagrams. Trends of the periodic table.
