JHA is a technique that focuses on job tasks as a way of identify hazards before the incidents / accident occurs. It focuses on the relationship between the works, the task, the tools and the work environment. - It helps safety officers identify potential hazards and give the them clue how to eliminate it or reduce it to the acceptable risk level.

A TYPICAL JHA QUSTION IS: What can go wrong? What are the consequences? How could it arise? What are other seemly contributing factors? How likely is it that the hazard will occur?

A CORRECT JHA TELLS: Where it can happen (Environment) Who or what it can happen to (exposure) What can precipitates the hazard The outcome that would occur should it happen And any other contributing factor

IDENTIFYING A POTENTIAL HAZARD To identify potential hazard study the job systematically and answer these questions: Can the tools, machines or equipment present any hazard? Can the work suffer slip, trip or fall? Is there a danger from falling objects?
