Learning Objective…To create a performance about GCSE’s.

Learning Outcomes Learning Objectives:
By the end of the lesson pupils will be able to: 1. Recall the three processes of characterisation. 2. Describe the differences between still images, freeze frames and rolling tableaux. 3. Explain how we create a performance.

Drama is all about starting at the bottom and working up to the top…
Building Blocks Drama is all about starting at the bottom and working up to the top… A Full performance A Freeze Frame Thought Tracking A Rolling Tableaux A Still Image An Idea

An Idea !!! You will always have a starting point… This is usually given by your teacher or director… ‘GCSE’s’ It is then your responsibility, as a group, to decide what you want to show. Think about: Choices/ temptation/ revision/ Do you have to be you?

Still Image!!! A Still Image is like a photograph that you create with the people in your group. A starting point for your idea.

Rolling Tableaux!!! A Rolling Tableaux is 3 photographs that you create with the people in your group. That shows three stages of your idea. On School Bus: Playing basket ball: Making new friends:

Thought Tracking!!! Thought Tracking is when you are in a still image or rolling tableaux and each performer says one line of what they are thinking at that moment in time. “I’m so scared that I won’t make any friends” “I really want to say hello to that girl, but I’m worried she won’t like me”

Freeze Frame!!! A Freeze Frame is when you act something out and then you freeze for 5 seconds and then you continue. You bringing your rolling tableaux to life and connecting them together to make a story. There can be time differences in-between them. You do not have to add in thought tracking.

There are three processes we focus on when looking at characterisation.
Voice Face Movement

Voice Pace… How fast or slow do you say some of the words? Pitch… Who is saying it? deep voice? Power…Do you shout the words? Do you whisper them? Pressure…What words do you emphasise? Pause… When do you pause?

Face Facial expressions…

Movement Gesture: wave, beckon, shake hands. Levels: up high shows power, bent down shows weakness. Space: Far away from each other creates tension.

Creating 7.5% of your GCSE Create a performance based on the title GCSE’s… Use the success criteria to help you with the stages.

Performing 22.5% of your GCSE Stay in character…help each other!!!

Star = one good thing Wish = one improvement Challenge WHY AND HOW 15

Evaluation 20% of your GCSE
Write about what you have done answering the following questions… What techniques did you in the creating process and why? What problems did you overcome and how? How did the performance go and why? What were your groups strengths and weaknesses.
