Vision All Maryland neighborhoods and communities thrive and are areas where people of all incomes have opportunities for themselves and their families.

Mission To engage and strengthen Maryland’s community development industry and encourage comprehensive community development through advocacy, partnerships, and capacity building.

Who is the Community Development Industry?
Any organization or individual doing community development for the benefit of the community. Includes nonprofits, public agencies, developers, individuals, and more.

What is Community Development?
Community development is defined as strategic initiatives that organizations and businesses implement to work with urban, rural and suburban communities to improve them economically, physically and socially for the people who live and work there.

Represent the Community Development Industry in Annapolis
Regular action alerts and updates on key legislation Legislation furthering policy and strengthens the industry. In 2013: Expanded CITC program to $175,000 in tax credits In 2014: Assisted in the passage of the Rental Housing Programs Efficiency Act, which ended local approval Passed the Homestead Tax Credit Carry Over bill for Baltimore City (requested by the Baltimore City Committee) CDN Policy Committee

Leading the Way to Stronger Communities Campaign
Promotes the social and economic impact of the industry in Maryland for further investment in organizations that do the work Ongoing work with media/social media Update of the Industry Report Maryland Community Development Week, October 20-27, 2014 CDN Working group

To be launched November 2015 10 or so indicators of what the results are of community development Provides a common framework through which all of the industry can make strategic decisions Inclusionary Process CDN Working group

Regional Coalitions and capacity building
Deliver capacity building trainings and information at the regional level Hear directly from practitioners in each region about the needs and possible policy initiatives Build a truly statewide organization Organizing partners for each region
