3. What is autism?
Autism is a lifelong, developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them.
Kids with autism often can't make connections that other kids make easily.
For example, when people smile, you know they feel happy or friendly; when people look mad, you can tell by their face or their voice. Some people with autism don’t understand it as well as people without.

4. More about autism No two people with autism are the same!
Some people with autism can’t understand language, some can.
Some autistic children can express what they see or what they think, others find this more difficult.
Sometimes, people with autism find it very difficult in noisy situations.

5. Autism Awareness Week
AAW is a time to celebrate the fact that we are all different. We all have different talents, skills and difficulties, which make us unique. It is important to always remember that it is OK to be different!

6. Autism is a spectrum…
This means that it can affect people a little bit in some areas, all the way to a lot in a lot of areas. It is said that if you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism as it’s different for everyone!
