- measurements
- location of evidence
- witnesses / suspects / etc.
- clothing descriptions / vehicle descriptions
- items difficult to remember

4. Reports are written in chronological order
Documenting your actions
Tell reader exactly what you did
Arrival
- what you did / time
Contact with victim / witness
Crime scene search

5. The Report Headings - insure continuity - coordinate the report
- easier reading for reader
- assist officer in court to locate items
Use headings you want (department policy)
Keep in mind who reads reports
- reflects on you / your department
- influences defense attorneys
